Meetings
will continue to be held at 6:30pm in the first-floor Meeting Room. Karen will check the
Library’s Meeting Room schedule and advise the Board as to which recurring dates are
available.
D.Board Plans for the Upcoming Year
Alicia distributed a list that she and Jeannie had compiled from ideas offered by Board
members over the past few weeks.
Nisa suggested that the Board choose their top three priorities and focus on those for
the next six months and make adjustments as necessary. Nisa also asked for pairs of
volunteers for each selected project:
Museum/Foundation Liaison and Library Staff Outreach: Meredith and Jeannie
Outreach to local schools: Alicia and Dustin
One Book: Eileen & Beth
Meredith noted that the Board’s focus this spring must also include the ballot issue in
Superior.
The Board also discussed those issues that did not make the list of projects for the year,
which included identifying groups the Library may not be reaching. Nisa noted that due
to our already high circulation and decreased budget, now may not be the best time for
this type of effort.
E.Distribute 2010 Open Government Pamphlet
All Board members were present, and all received the 2010 Open Government
pamphlet.
F.Foundation Update
To help further the Foundation and Board of Trustees mutual goal of collaboration,
Eileen attended the Foundation Board meeting in December. A focus of that meeting
was the Foundation’s annual fundraising letter, which is included with the water bill in
October. Since more and more residents are now receiving these bills electronically, the
Foundation needs to evaluate other options or opportunities. Eileen will contact the
Foundation to setup a meeting with the Board of Trustees in either February or March.
G.Sam’s Club Closure Update
Malcolm provided general information about the impact on City revenues of the Sam’s
Club Louisville store closure. Malcolm noted that City Council will have a budget retreat
on February 9, and that the City Manager’s office will prepare a list of recommendations
for City Council’s consideration. It is likely that General Fund budgets, including the
Library’s, will be cut 5% across the board.
The City Manager’s Office, including Business Development Director, Bonnie Star, are in
contact with the owners of the Sam’s Club store regarding sale of the property. It is
unknown at this time what, if any, restrictions will be placed on the sale. Malcolm does
not anticipate a decision on pricing the property for sale until the end of February at
the earliest. The City can’t actively market the site until that time.

íÈÛÑÔÚñÔÛËÜËÄ
êÍËÈÚØêÉËØØÉñÎÈÔÊÇÔÑÑØúî

ÆÆÆÑÎÈÔÊÇÔÑÑØÑÔÛËÜËÄÖÎÇ
