Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
2/4/10
d. March- St. Patty's Day Dinner for Seniors, March 18th, 5:15-7:15pm.

. 60-80 seniors. We serve food and clear plates. Much lower key than Heat Relief. Sign
up sheet was passed around at meeting.

VII. CML "If I were Mayor..." Contest

. Daisy talked to the 7th grade LA teachers at Monarch K-8, who seemed really
interested. Joi talked to the social studies teachers at LMS but they were not that
interested. Brook is going to talk to the language arts teachers at LMS this week.

VIII. Discuss other city boards and commissions

. Megan went to the city council meeting. There they discussed the golf course- leasing
it to WGP- they would pay the city for the course. They are already running it, the city
is paying them to manage but now city may make income off of it.

Daisy went to the city council retreat. Conoco Phillips tax revenue was discussed.
Getting a new business into the Sam's Club place- a new one would not be able to
compete with Walmart or Sam's. Would not make as much sales tax as Sam's Club
did. They discussed a $250k deficit and what to cut. The library and Rec. Center were
discussed.

Brooke, Katy and Joi missed their meetings- will reschedule.

IX. Further goal setting discussion concerning the upcoming term

a) Bus schedule around Monarch- update from Leslie

. Leslie attended a meeting about the closing of the LYNX bus route. People were there
to voice their opinion about why the LYNX should stay open. Monarch High and K-8
depend on it and so do people at the hospital. Leslie talked about the kids and how
they depend on it to get to and from school. Leslie got interviewed about her testimony
at the meeting and was put into the Louisville Times. We give a face to the numbers
and a face to who this is affecting.

b) Volunteer-a-thon

. Memory square clean up? Sam was not here so we didn't discuss this much

X. Eyes and Ears
. Megan talked about Collies Closet's event on Friday May 28th a youth band concert $5
benefits the Second Wind Fund of Boulder County. It is at the Steinbaugh pavilion

. Daisy talked about how sophomores at Monarch writing bad things in the tunnel by her
house. City has tried to fix it but is not keeping up. The tunnel scares her and makes it
harder for her to walk to school.

. Meals on Wheels- the lady who Leslie corresponded with for our January project has
contacted her again and is interested in future collaborations.
