in there at one time. She feels that the entire recreation department is at or near capacity and in need
of a new multi-purpose gym. She urged Council to fund a new multi-purpose gym this year and
presented them with a petition containing 26 signatures plus numerous letters supporting this request.

Julie Nelson, 348 Spruce Lane, Louisville, Colorado, supported Linda Hultman's request. She stated
that there is no boy's gymnastics program; therefore, her sons carpool to Westminster for
gymnastics. In an effort to accommodate all the gymnastics programs, practice times are staggered.
Her six-year-old daughter's gymnastics practice ends at 8:00 p.m. Due to this practice time and for
safety reasons, she has considered transferring her daughter to a different gymnastics program.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA

Davidson called for Council informational comments on pertinent items not on the agenda.

Mayer asked to reply to Hultman's comments. He stated that he has asked Steve Baysinger, Director
of Parks and Recreation, to look into the program needs at the Recreation Center. One of the
possibilities is the use of other facilities. An expansion of the Recreation Center is also being
considered; however, if selected, it may take several years to complete.

Lathrop stated that approximately half of the prairie dog comments tonight were reasonable and the
remainder were unreasonable. He expressed displeasure for Council being wrongly accused of
poisoning prairie dogs and not receiving recognition for trying to do what is right. He stated that
Council's record speaks for itself.

Sisk asked to compliment the citizens in attendance at last week's neighborhood meeting on Lake
Park. He thanked Council for trying to address the issues with the Lake Park community, the citizens
for their openness during the meeting, and City staff for organizing the meeting.

RESOLUTION No. 40, SERIES 1998 - A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOULDER
VALLEY BOARD OF EDUCATION TO MAINTAIN MONARCH AT ITS PRESENT
STATUS AS A K-8 SCHOOL

Davidson called for Council introduction.

Levihn asked to be excused from this discussion due to his position as an employee of the Boulder
Valley School District.

Davidson excused Levihn.
