HOLIDAY MUSIC EVENTS <br />T he walls of the Library will echo with the sounds of <br />music this December. All these musical programs <br />are free and open to everyone. Come join us! <br />Friday, December 4 3:30 -5:00 PM <br />"Now & Then," a local performing group, will help get <br />you in the holiday spirit. A mixture of the sacred and the <br />secular, their music will please young and old alike. <br />Saturday, December 12 + 3:00 -5:00 PM <br />You are invited to the Library's annual holiday reception <br />held in our Lobby. Relax and listen to harpist Kristin Rey. <br />Light refreshments will be served. <br />Tuesday, December 15 + 4:00 -5:00 PM <br />Louisville's own "Singin' Seniors" will present their annual <br />concert of holiday melodies. <br />ISN'T IT ROMANTIC .. ? <br />Saturday, February 6 • 1:00 -3:00 PM <br />p ut a little romance in your life. Join us for our sec - <br />ond annual romance event. Meet published authors <br />Tara Janzen, Barbara Samuel, Robin Owens, Elaine Levine, <br />Deb Stover, Melissa Mayhue, Pamela Clare, and Clare Aus- <br />tin, who write in many subgenres of romance fiction. At- <br />tendees will participate in small group readings and Q&A <br />sessions with each author. This event is supported by many <br />of the women -owned businesses in Louisville, who will be <br />providing special prizes related to the Valentine season. <br />SPECIAL LIBRARY USED BOOK SALE <br />O n December 4 and 5, the Library's "never- ending" <br />used book sale will feature art, collectible, coffee <br />table, and foreign language books. These items will sell for <br />$5 each, with sets slightly higher. Great ideas for holiday <br />giving! <br />Come early for the best selection. All proceeds from <br />book sales go to the Louisville Public Library Foundation, <br />which funds many of the programs in the Library. <br />LIBRARY NEWS <br />FLU Gor You DOWN? <br />USE THE LIBRARY FROM HOME <br />D id you know you can download audio books from <br />the comfort of home? During this flu season, you <br />can visit the library from home and check out materials for <br />instant use! All you need is a computer with Internet access <br />and a current library card. <br />You can listen to your audio books on your home <br />computer. Or, for portability, you can sync (transfer) your <br />materials to an MP3 player or iPod. Visit the Library's web <br />site and select Download Audio Books from the homepage. <br />To learn more, click on the Quick Start Guide. Mudslingers Pottery School, in collabora- <br />tion with the Art Underground, the YMCA's Breakthrough <br />Arts program, Centaurus and Monarch High Schools, <br />is presenting a showcase of art. There will be an opening <br />reception beginning at 3:00 PM. <br />Young Chautauquans Bring History to Life! <br />Wednesday, December 16 + 6:30 -8:00 PM <br />The Louisville Young Chautauqua program is an entertain- <br />ing and educational humanities program in which young <br />scholars spend several months researching and then per- <br />forming as historic characters. Performances begin in May <br />and will be held at different locations including the Library. <br />Join us for this informational session to find out more <br />about this terrific program. <br />Teen Tech Week • March 7 -13 <br />"Learn, Create, Share @ Your Library "is the theme for the <br />national event celebrating its fourth year, and the Library <br />will be offering special tech - related activities.
