City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />April 13, 2009 <br />Page 2of 3 <br />process for advising City Council. The members would like more connection with <br />City Council, either attending meetings or reviewing meeting summaries. In <br />addition, the YAB requested more exposure through the city’s website, starting a <br />Facebook group, and having a blurb in the next City update. The YAB will be <br />looking for more gender diversity in the next board term for 2010-2011. <br />Outgoing members were presented with certificates in recognition of their service <br />on the YAB. <br />Louisville Cultural Council <br />LCC Board members and staff liaisons presented an update on the council’s <br />2009 accomplishments, 2010 goals, and progress in 2010. Highlights include: <br />Secured grant funding <br />Successfully organized 26 events in the community; 7 coffeehouse <br />concerts, 4 summer concerts, 3 summer movies, 2 silent movies, 4 dance <br />events, Young Writers, Young Artists, 2 children’s concerts, Paintin’ <br />Louisville,Architectural School Awards Reception, YAB Poet-A-Thon, and <br />Library Book signing event <br />Collaborations with the Louisville Art Association, Library CU/Boulder <br />Architectural School, and Youth Advisory continue to benefit the City of Louisville <br />with qualityevents and programs. The Council will move forward with ideas and <br />plans to undertake the possibility of building a new Arts Center. <br />2010 Goals include: <br />Complete SCFD 2011 GOS Grant Application <br />Call for artists for Art in the Park <br />Continue high-quality and low/no cost events for the public <br />Create first formal sponsorship program <br />Seek new grant opportunities <br />So far in 2010 LCC has launched call for Art in the Park, completed first quarterly <br />programming, planned 22 events, and booked 4 summer concert series bands. <br />Public Comments: Don Atwood stated that it would be beneficial of all arts <br />organizations to be represented on the LCC board as active members, such as <br />LAA currently does. Mayor Sisk commented that this information is spread when <br />board positions open. Lori Jones from Art Underground provided information <br />about the Arts Hub started at Art Underground on the first Friday each month in <br />downtown Louisville. LCC was commended by the City Council for the number <br />of events hosted by anall volunteer board. Mayor Sisk encouraged the LCC to <br /> <br />
