City Council
Study Session Summary
May 11, 2010
affect it could have on the Fire District. Of particular concern to the district is the
increase in traffic, the size/height of the proposed buildings/the distance from the
nearest LFPD facility, and current staffing limitations.
Chief Parker stated that they have proposed and/or considered a variety of ideas
to alleviate some of the concerns related to the COP development. The best
situation would be for the LFPD to build a third station near the COP campus to
provide service to the south sub area, however that is not an option the LFPD
can afford at this time.
Chief Parker added that one option would be for the City to charge a Fire Impact
Fee and pass the funds on to the LFPD.
Chief Parker noted that the LFPD is continuing to work with COP regarding their
concerns and they hope that they will be able to come to a resolution that works
for both parties. He added the LFPD wanted to let the Council know their
concerns in general to better understand what this project will mean to the LFPD
and its service levels.
The Board members thanked the City Council for their time. The Mayor added
that the City and the LFPD have a history of working well together and he
thanked the Fire Board and Chief Parker for their service.
No other items were discussed.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
Submitted May 13, 2010
Meredyth Muth
