<br />Open Space Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />April 14, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />3_ Offer from local access television to provide visibility for the Board in case <br />we wish to post events and Open Space information_ Tom suggested that <br />this would be an excellent resource_ <br />4_ Updates to trail map is occurring_ However, no date for new printing has <br />been set <br />5_ Ember provided a map of locations for placement of coyote sandwich <br />boards and coyote reports_ <br />6_ Volunteers monitoring eight raptor nests currently and also ice chipping <br />activities on hard surface trails_ <br />7_ Fishing Frenzy is scheduled for April 3Oth_ <br />R Still working with Boulder County Transportation and Boulder County <br />Parks & Open Space on changing the surface type of the steep trail at <br />Aquarius that frequently washes out <br />9_ Still working with Boulder County Transportation, Boulder County Parks & <br />Open Space, Lafayette and Superior on the Coal Creek / Rock Creek 20th <br />anniversary event <br /> <br />Board Updates <br />1_ Tom noticed that Coal Creek is bank fulL Graffiti has also been apparent <br />in the open space, including paint ball disturbance_ <br />2_ David asked if there is a current contact list for the Board_ Ember said that <br />she would distribute_ <br />3_ Helen noticed on the Open Space web page that there is some outdated <br />information regarding Board members_ <br />4_ Tom noticed that there is a proposal to have solar panels placed in the <br />City_ <br />5_ Tom said that there is an open house tomorrow (4/15/10) to meet the six <br />candidates for the Planning & Building Safety DirectoL <br /> <br />Discussion Item: 2010 Educational Programming <br />Spencer suggested that youth outreach is very important for these <br />educational programs_ He said that we should present within the local schools_ <br />Larry indicated that taking the idea a step further by getting young folks involved <br />in volunteer opportunities would be even better for making the learning stick_ Joe <br />suggested that Facebook pages would be another way to reach young people_ <br />Tom said that he would reach out to Fireside Elementary, and Larry said <br />that he would reach out to Monarch K-R Spencer said that he would pull <br />together ideas and outlines_ <br />Tom said that it would be neat to have a "star talk" from someone at Fiske <br />Planetarium or elsewhere_ <br />Linda suggested perhaps a session on global warming from NCAR Helen <br />said that she would reach out to NCAR <br /> <br />Discussion Item: Conoco Phillips Property Development <br />Justin introduced to the Board a digital presentation that Conoco Phillips <br />has created_ The presentation highlights changes that Conoco Phillips has made <br />
