This Has to be at a cost
of 4?.75 per :-our plus '.15 rer rile on the Lafayette City Vehicle. Estimated
tine on natrol and on call to the city is 1 ,1"0 man hours at a cost of '3,025
r.•I anproxi-ately C,110 riles on the vehicle for a cost of 14:'.fO, for a
total cost to the city of Louisville of This is for enforcement of
the dog control ordinances only. since the tire of the anree'lent, there has
t-eln no ro:.ine patrol of oer city by the Lafayette 'tnimal garden. This
has been duo to no vehicle available for hint to use, ho was busy in Lafayette,
there was a shortage of manpower on the Lafayette Police 7epat talent and he was
used as a patrolman, was sick, etc. ^lsn, upon request by this department for
sarvice ti: Lafayette "Wen has only been available about ?M: of the tires the
request hes been made.
At the present time the ^olice ^enartnent is receivino from five to fifteen
calls per .rook on don en Plaints. These calls vary in nature from dog bite calls,
'o s runnin^ at larne, dna '+roneinos in their yams, roes scarino grade school
c'r.i1 frees ooira to and fro- school , hart inn dons, etc. There is aonroximately
t-ienty to t'trty dons runeine loose that have hPen aban4onerf here by people
ravine" away and not takire the dons with them or by them heinn dumped out near
torn by people diseosinn of a litter of puns without oayinn for the fees requested
at the Pumine Fociety pound. also, there are a large nurher of neoole that
l't their dons out in the early rornlnn and eventre hours. There has only been
12f doe licenses issued to date this year, which I feel is a very small percentane
of the total dogs within the city.
In addition to the don ordinances, the Code Enforcement Officer would he
responsible for enforcement cf the nusiance tyre ordinances as described in the
attached Joh description sheet. Last summers clean-up camnaign helped to remove
some of these problems such as junk, trash and weeds, but there are still a lot
of residents who have not taken care of their residences, also most people that rent
don't take care of their yards. '•llth the Cnde Enforcement Officer ren+indinn them of
their responsibilities to the nrdirances, we should have a cleaner, nicer looking
and safer town to live in.
The Code Enforcement nfflcer would be t'orking here full time for the City
and would he directly accountable to the Police nepartment, and available when
he was needed. His hours of natrol would vary so as to allow maximum enforcement
or the ordinances.
