Attorney Joss read the ordinance <br /> on first reading by title only. <br /> Councilman Carmel moved that Ordinance <br /> 0548 beordered published and a public hear- <br /> ins be sst for May 17, 1977. Seconded by <br /> Councilman De1Pizso. Motion carried. <br /> ORDINANCE 0549 All members of Council had before them a <br /> WARD ANNEXATION copy of Ord. 1549 for their review and <br /> files. <br /> Attorney Joss read the ordinance by title <br /> only on first reading. <br /> Mayor Waschak opened the public hearing. <br /> Charlie Cox presented the Ward request <br /> stating that there were approximately <br /> 80 acres which were surrounded by City, <br /> zoned commercial and industrial. <br /> Percy Conarroe questioned the public hearing <br /> on first reading of the Ordinance stating <br /> the the purpose of a public hearing is for <br /> the people to be aware of the ordinance and <br /> then comment on it. <br /> Planner Drumm stated that at the present <br /> time staff has been suggesting that <br /> Council take the recommendation of Planning <br /> Commission consider the ordinances and <br /> set a public bearing date. This matter <br /> had come up earlier when .tbe .public <br /> hearing was set and aleo the matter was <br /> brought to the Planning Commission. <br /> This is the reason that the hearing is <br /> being held tonight. Attorney Jose stated <br /> that the public bearing can be held tonight <br /> and again on second reading of the ord- <br /> inance if desired. <br /> Mayor Waechak stated that he would continue <br /> with the public bearing and then have <br /> another on second reading of the ordinance. <br /> There were no other comments, the public <br /> hearing was closed and remarks turned over <br /> to council. <br /> Councilman Caranci moved that Ordinance <br /> 1549 be ordered published and the public <br /> hearing be scheduled for May 17, 1977. <br /> Seconded by Councilman McDonald.
