Regional Planning Policy Agency.
We are enclosing in the packet the background material on
this. Basically, what has happened is that DRCOG has re-
quested that the Governor put on his call for the legislature
a provision that would establish DRCOG as the regional
planning and policy agency and provide for the establishment
of a board. Basically the whole concept is done to
strengthen DRCOG's roll as Regional Planning Agency.
Two things, we need to visit about this at the meeting to
determine Council's position on the matter so that Councilman
Beier can go back to the Consortium of Cities with our opinion
and also that we can take a stand on the proposed legislation
both with the Municipal League and various legislatures.
You can tell from the data submitted that it is staffs position
to oppose such a thing.
