410 cil minutes - page 3
sbru.ry 19. 1980
LITTLE LEAGUE FiES
DISCUSSION GOUT'D Councilman Domenico stated that be thought
the Service Expansion Fund should be used
to pick up a part of the fees.
I . Stahl stated that the Service Ex-
pansion fond is basically designed to build
capitol pro ects and buy capitol equipment
and not designed for operational type items.
Councilman Carnival stated that be thought
the swimming pool operational costs came
from the Service Expansion fund.
Mr. Wur1 stated that he did not think
the swimming pool operation costs came
from the fund and noted that the primary
consideration was for parks construction
and eventually when building stops in the
City there will no longer be monies going
into the fund.
Councilman Meier requested that the par-
ents and coaches involved let Council
know what their feelings and wishes are.
Don Cummings 1100 Grant Ave. stated that
the coaches talked with parents and came
up with their opinions as follows:
The group does not want full subsidation
from the City; however, they do not want
to have the fees increase as this will
cause financial burdens on families with
more then one participating child or families
~which have children participate in more
then one program.
The group does not want businesses to spon-
sor the teams as many groups are selective
and some children will not get to parti-
cipate.
The group felt that the program should not
be designed to make money, but to be avail-
able to all children who want to participate.
H. noted that the children represent the City.
children who will some day be running this
City and should be given a chance to parti-
cipate in their future.
Dennis Ferrera 248 Centennial Dr. stated
that in wrestling there is a $10 fee at
40 participants, there should be $800 spent
on wrestling, however, as of today only
$130 has been spent.
Mayor Waschak asked for a breakdown of where
the fees have gone.
Mr. Stahl noted that the budget is for the
entire year of 1980 and only two months
