• • 8/21/84 Page -2- John Buechner Mr. Buechner stated that he wished to give City Administrator Search Council an up-date on the City Administrator search, and what he would like to propose be done in the month ahead. As of today he had received 55 applications, twelve of those were from Colorado. Some of the applicants are in communities in administration; other are residents of Colorado but not necessarily near the community. The experience level ranges from 0 to 30 years in municipal management. Therefore, he felt that we were getting a good cross-section of applicants. Only one female had applied for the position. Mr. Buechner felt that another 25-50 appli- cants would be picked up through the ad- vertising by the deadline of September 25th. He then distributed copies of the "Profile" .developed as well as copies of the International City Managers Association guidebook entitled 'Selecting A Professional Municipal Adminis- trator." - He stated that a discussion was held regarding the possibilities of looking at employment contracts and he had written to Bill Kirchoff, City Manager of Lakewood who provided him with some sample contracts. (These were provided to Mayor and Council) . Mr. Kirchoff would be willing to meet with Council if they so desire. Regarding the retirment program by the ICZKA Mr. Buechner stated presently the City of Louisville has a contribution of 4% and Leon Wurl had participated 9% of his gross salary to this program. This will be a factor when benefits are discussed. He suggested that he come to the Sept. 4th Council meeting and then establish a Study Session date before the deadline of Sept. 25th. Also he suggested that he arrange with Director Asti-Caranci to do a similar kind of profile with department heads that was done with Council. After reviewing all the applications= thus far received he felt that there were some highly qualified people that had made application. Mr. Buechner stated that he had begun making telephone calls through his network and had received a list of what he considered to be the major institutions of higher education who would have networks for City Managers.
