APPROVAL OP CHANGE ORM #1 - NORTH LOUISVILLE
SEWER LIME sundley explained that the construction and
installation of the North Louisville Interceptor
Sewer was proceeding on schedule. The contractor
has installed the sewer line from the Wastewater
Treatment Plant to South Boulder Road. The
or!oinal bid specifications specified that South
Boulder Road was to be crossed with open cut
construction and temporary roadways installed
adjacent to the current Road. The pra.;=ct bid
early in 1986 identified a no disruption of
traffic to occur. Due to the high cost on the
original bid, the City eliminated this more
expensive item of the work from the rebid project.
Favorable bids were received on the rebid project
and the City asked the contractor to evaluate
additional costs to jack and bore the So. Boulder
Road crossing rather than open cut it. This
method provides much greater safety to the
motoring public and exposes the contractor and the
City to much leas liability, and would also
eliminate the inconvenience and disruption to
traffic that is inherent in an open construction
with temporary roadway repairs. The cost to cross
South Boulder Road with a jack and bore operation
versus an open cut t4..hnique is $3,095. Staff
recommends the approval of this Change Order to
the North Interceptor Sewer project.
Mayor Fauson moved that Change Order #1 to the
North Louisville Interceptor Sewer rroject be
approved. Szymanski seconded. Unanimous.
AUT4cRIZA'"1Oli TO COMPLETE AGREEMENT - HOWARD
DITCH DIVERSION Rundle; explained that in May 1986, the City of
Louisville made an agreement n+th the Howard Ditch
Company through an adjudication proceeding to
change the point of diversion of 36.744 shares or
13.1270 cfs of water. Safe yield of the dascribed
share is 357 acre feet per year. In order to
utilize the water, return flow measuring equipment
(i.e. valves, meter, piping) must be installed
downstream from the Howard Ditch headgats. Return
flow piping is designed to transfer .73 cfs from
the Howard Ditch to South Boulder Creek per t:.3
transfer decree. In order to facilitate
construction, certain fees must be paid to the
City of Boulder in the amount of approximately
$6.300. Staff recommends approval of an easement
with the City of Boulder.
Bundley explained that some of the conditions
within the agreement were extreme and staff would
continue to negotiate with Boulder on certain
items. However, Eundley stater that the agreement
6
