ciated water facility improvements. inasmuch as
the City's Capital Improvements Program estimates
the construction of the Howard Berry Water Treat-
ment Plant in 1991 or 1992 and the City is contem-
plating the placement of a 1.5 agd elevated water
tank at this alt., City staff feel it important to
begin the process of annexing this 7.5 acre site
to the City of Louisville.
Carnival asked why this annexation referral is
before Council at this time.
Hundley responded stating that since this facility
is for the City of Louisville, it should be
annexed to the City. Secondly, the City may con-
struct an elevated water tank and would need to go
through a County approval process for the use of
the site for an elevated storage tank should the
City choose not to annex the site. Inasmuch as
the City intends to annex the site anyway, Hundley
recoaaended that the the City proceed with the
annexation process at this time.
Mayor Pauson moved that Council refer this
annexation request to the Louisville Planning
Commission. Mohr seconded, Unanimous.
APPROVAL OP S.T.S. CONTRACT FOR
TRANSPORTATION Hundley reminded Council that during budget
deliberations for FY 1987, the issue of providing
transportation at perhaps a lower cost was
discussed. In 1986, approximately $13,500 was
expended for 30 hours per week for transportation
for the City's seniors.
Frisk* explained that this proposal is with
Special Transit System for a cost of $5,360
annually to provide service to Louisville with
emphasis on elderly and disabled individuals.
This proposed contract provides for 37 1/2 hours
of transportation service weekly. Initially, the
City of Louisville vans would be used to provide
the service; sometime in April, STS expects to
have their own van to be used under this contract.
STS has been providing service to Louisville for
the last few weeks.
Cathy Bittler, Senior Coordinator, met with STS
working out sections of the contract including the
adjustment of the schedule so that a person could
be taken to a health facility, i.e., the 24 hour
Emergency Care Facility, without making an
eppointrent Z4 hours in advance.
3
