07/07/87
Mayor Fauson moved that Resolution 017 be adopted.
Szymanski seconded. By Roil Call Vote, Resolution
+17 was adopted unanimously.
APPROVAL TO OBTAIN BIDS - 1987 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
PROTECTS Phare explained that as a result of the final
approval of Resolution 417 revising the Capital
Improvement Program Budget, it is his recommendation
to proceed with authorisation for the Public Works
Department to obtain bids on the Concrete
Replacements, Street Chip Seal, and Cemetery
Irrigation System projects. A detail was given to
Council showing the locations of these projects.
Sackett asked if Hutchinson was on this list. Phare
indicated that it was not part of the street chip
seal project as the street was in need of repaving,
chip seal would not be appropriate. Sackett stated
that it is important for the City to live within its
means, but there are serious street repairs that
need to be done in the near future and the City does
not have the money. Sackett commented, "I don't
want the public to get the impression that we have
lots of money to do lots of things." Sackett once
again stated that he will address this issue during
Budget deliberation.
Anderson stated that he also was concerned over this
issue and talked to Phare to see if there was any
way to have the street repaired. Phare explained to
his that Hutchinson Street needs to be replaced and
the project is more costly than the available
dollars could accomplish.
Szymanski asked Phare to explained the irrigation
system at the cemetery. Phare stated that this will
tie into the water line being installed and will
relieve the labor intensive efforts of moving
sprinkler hoses around the cemetery. Szymanski asked
if it is typical to have these underground systems
in cemeteries. Hundley stated that the Cemetery
Board recommended the installation and approved
borrowing the funds from the Cemetery Endowment
Fund. The money would be replaced over the next two
to three years from the Capital Improvement Funds.
Szymanski also expressed concern regarding installa-
tion in a cemetery that is old and in some instances
not well mapped. Lill* stated that an intern has
been working on mapping the cemetery and that should
minimize the problems of installation of the system.
Mohr moved that the Public Works Department obtain
bids on the Concrete Replacements, Street Chip Seal,
and the Cemetery Irrigation System. Scarpella
seconded. Unanimous.
3
