Also, Beth updated everyone with pertinent statistics: Operating <br />Expenses have increased 35% since 2005 – over the same period, <br />Circulation has increased 37%. She also presented statistics about what <br />other area communities pay for library services, according to Nicole <br />Steffan, Director of Library Research at the Colorado Library Association. <br />B. National Library Week Activities <br /> Beth reviewed the activities planned for National Library Week in April. <br />The Trustees have been invited to attend the reception on Saturday, April <br />17, 2010. Also, the Trustees are still planning on an appreciation event on <br />Tuesday, April 13. We will plan at the next board meeting. <br />Items C and D were postponed until the end of the meeting so we could share <br />with the Library Foundation. <br />IX. Director’s Report <br />A. Statistics <br />B. Budget: Adjustments to increase revenue and decrease costs are as follows: <br /> 1. Fees for holds not picked up are to be implemented. <br /> 2. Accounts that have more than $25 in fines will be sent to a collection <br />agency. We currently have accounts in this situation that represent <br />$14,000 in fines. The collections agency typically has a collection rate of <br />65%. This will go into effect mid-year. <br /> 3. There are no current plans to close the library to save money. <br />C. Upcoming Events <br /> Beth let everyone know about a smartphone app that lets patrons make <br />holds, search the catalogue, and other tasks directly from their phones. <br />VII. <br />D. Library Foundation Update <br /> We were joined by members of the Library Foundation Board: Stan <br />Martin, Malena Brohm, Ron Alm, Phil Barton, and prospective board <br />member Jean Shennan. Stan described the current Foundation situation. <br />Approximately $17,000 is raised annually through the City of Louisville’s <br />December water bill mailings. Ideas are currently being explored to <br />expand fundraising opportunities as many residents choose to receive their <br /> <br />
