Planning Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 13, 2010 <br />Page 12 of 13 <br /> <br />O’Connell, Pritchard, Brauneis, Sheets, Russell and Loo stated they favor the <br />request. <br />Loo moved and Sheets seconded a motion to approved Resolution No. 12, <br />Series 2010 as presented by staff with the removal of Condition #1 regarding the <br />liquor license modification. The conditions would be as follows: <br />1. The outdoor dining area shall not be used past closing time on any given <br />day or, at the latest, past 12 AM. <br />2. This SRU is granted to the applicant only and may not be transferred to a <br />different business at this location. <br />3. Loo Yes <br />Ann O’Connell Yes <br />Monica Sheets Yes <br />Steve Brauneis Yes <br />Scott Russell Yes <br />Motion passed: 6 to 0 <br /> <br />Project Update – <br />Sign Code Amendments – Downtown <br /> <br /> <br />McMillan discussed the sign code amendments and asked the Commissioners to <br />discuss what they feel as topics being missed by staff. <br />Russell discussed the under delivery of signs. <br />O’Connell asked if the ecological impact of a neon sign should be considered. <br />She also discussed the importance of the orientation of the sign as it relates to <br />pedestrians and vehicular traffic. <br />Russ stated the pedestrian vs. vehicle orientation would be determined by the <br />goal being established within the code. <br />Pritchard stated the need for flexibility, keeping communication open between the <br />different interested parties, studying other communities regarding the pedestrian <br />vs. vehicle concerns and what lighting would be appropriate for signs. <br />Brauneis stated his concern with the nighttime pollution of signs with lighting. <br />The following items are scheduled for June 10, 2010 <br />tentatively <br /> <br />LuckyPie, LLC – A special review use (SRU) request to allow for outside <br /> <br />patio dining. <br /> <br />
