Planning Commission Meeting Minutes May 13, 2010 Page 12 of 13 O’Connell, Pritchard, Brauneis, Sheets, Russell and Loo stated they favor the request. Loo moved and Sheets seconded a motion to approved Resolution No. 12, Series 2010 as presented by staff with the removal of Condition #1 regarding the liquor license modification. The conditions would be as follows: 1. The outdoor dining area shall not be used past closing time on any given day or, at the latest, past 12 AM. 2. This SRU is granted to the applicant only and may not be transferred to a different business at this location. 3. The outdoor music on the patio will be turned off after closing time each evening or, at the latest, by 12 AM. Roll Call Vote: Name Vote Jeff Lipton absent Chris Pritchard Yes Susan S. Loo Yes Ann O’Connell Yes Monica Sheets Yes Steve Brauneis Yes Scott Russell Yes Motion passed: 6 to 0 Project Update – Sign Code Amendments – Downtown  McMillan discussed the sign code amendments and asked the Commissioners to discuss what they feel as topics being missed by staff. Russell discussed the under delivery of signs. O’Connell asked if the ecological impact of a neon sign should be considered. She also discussed the importance of the orientation of the sign as it relates to pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Russ stated the pedestrian vs. vehicle orientation would be determined by the goal being established within the code. Pritchard stated the need for flexibility, keeping communication open between the different interested parties, studying other communities regarding the pedestrian vs. vehicle concerns and what lighting would be appropriate for signs. Brauneis stated his concern with the nighttime pollution of signs with lighting. The following items are scheduled for June 10, 2010 tentatively LuckyPie, LLC – A special review use (SRU) request to allow for outside  patio dining.
