It t't LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION <br />Louisville COMMISSION <br />COLORA.DO • SINCE 187E <br />SUBJECT: STAFF UPDATES <br />DATE: DECEMBER 20, 2023 <br />PRESENTED BY: AUSTIN BROWN, INTERIM ECONOMIC VITALITY MANAGER <br />SUMMARY: <br />In the following, staff provides business and property updates related to activity within <br />the Highway 42 Urban Renewal Area. <br />LRC Letter of Support for Main Street Closure <br />Attachment #1 is a draft letter from the LRC to City Council in support of a temporary <br />closure of Main Street to non -emergency vehicular traffic. <br />Update to Fees for Legal Services <br />City Council entered into a new contract with Kelly PC for City Attorney services with <br />new rates effective January 1, 2024. Attachment 112 is a new contract between the LRC <br />and Kelly PC for City Attorney Services reflecting these new rates. Effective January 1, <br />2024, the billing category rates will be increased to the amounts shown on page 3 of the <br />attachment. <br />South Street Underpass Update <br />The City of Louisville will be holding a design charrette for the South Street Underpass <br />on Wednesday, January 17. The City would like to invite two members of the LRC to <br />attend the afternoon session. The LRC will also be discussing funding of the South <br />Street Underpass during its January meeting, also on January 17. <br />Ice Rink Update <br />Old Town Skate opened on Friday, December 1 st at 3 PM, just in time for the Parade of <br />Lights. The grand opening included free hot chocolate for the first 100 customers and <br />light shows throughout the evening. The opening was delayed from the November 23 <br />anticipated opening date due to equipment delays and electrical issues. The rink is <br />being managed by Parks and Recreation. City staff will continue to engage with the <br />contractor and will continue to plan for next year's rink. <br />Downtown Vision Plan <br />MIG, the consultant hired to produce the Downtown Vision Plan, invited key <br />stakeholders to join them for a site walk on Wednesday December 6. The group <br />included local businesses, members of the LRC, DBA, Chamber of Commerce, and <br />other City Boards and Commissions. <br />MIG and City staff also facilitated public outreach and engagement at both the Turkey <br />Trot and Parade of Lights.
