that the Parish is willing to work on these items and to continue working on them. Working with a
facilitator helped identify the need to build trust between the Parish and neighbors and improve
community relations with both the neighbors and the City. In addition, members of the Parish staff
met with City staff and the school staff to discuss resolutions to parking, traffic and trash. Members
of the Parish and the neighborhood decided to prepare a joint document to present to the Planning
Commission at the October 13, 1998, meeting. Communications broke down and they were not able
to complete the document as a group. The Parish committee completed the document. She asked to
recap what they are proposing for some of the issues.

Trash

The recycling program will be re-evaluated by Eco-Cycle. More recycling
pickup/containers will be added as Eco-Cycle recommends. Eco-Cycle will also be
asked to re-educate the parish/school staff and students on the recycling program.
· Cardboard will not be placed in the dumpster but will be collected and taken to the
Louisville Recycling Center.
· Students will continue to collect and dispose of any trash on the Parish property.
· The Parish will ensure that dumpster lids are closed.
· They are evaluating the best location for the trash dumpster. The Parish Committee
and the neighborhood discussed three locations, however, she believes that the Parish
Committee and neighbors would agree that there are other potential locations that
were not put in writing that were also discussed.

Parking & Car Line
When discussing traffic and parking, the issues were divided into two groups: ones that could be
addressed or enforced by the school/Parish and ones that could be addressed or enforced by the City.
The Parish is also looking into the installation of lights in the parking lot to facilitate usage of the
lot at night.
· After a meeting with Chief Goodman, a memo from the principal at St. Louis School
was sent home to school parents and staff regarding the immediate implementation
of Chief Goodman's traffic plan recommendations.
· Staffmembers will be stationed outside in the afternoon to ensure compliance with
the traffic plan.
· The Parish/school will continue to educate individuals and groups using the Parish
facilities on parking regulations.
· A four-way stop at Walnut and Grant Streets and relocation of an obscured stop sign
on the northeast side of Walnut and Jefferson are recommended.
· The Parish/school will encourage staggering of student drop off and pick up times,
carpooling, walking and ongoing education of individuals who use Parish facilities.

HVA C Noise
The HVAC system cun'ently meets City noise code. The Parish has agreed to install a special-order,
quilted noise absorbing material on the ground and roof units as soon as possible to ameliorate the
operating sound levels.

5
