BCBOA <br />BCBOA members, Mike Jones, and Troy Russ presented an update on the <br />board's 2009 accomplishments, 2010 goals, and progress in 2010. Highlights <br />include: <br />➢ Role of advisory board regarding codes <br />➢ Louisville is on the forefront with 2009 Code Adoption <br />➢ Difficulties with local needs regarding building <br />➢ Process of by -law changes for board <br />➢ National Programs and update on Green Building Code <br />City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />May 25, 2009 <br />Page 2of2 <br />Council member asked if the board is proposing building regulations that go <br />above the 2009 code. The board will operate at a baseline of above standard to <br />encourage building that incorporates green building and energy conservation. <br />Those who build above standard may receive incentives, although there will not <br />be a mandatory regulation for building above standards. Amendments to the <br />code may be considered to minimize impacts while Louisville catches up with the <br />energy conservation and green building regulations. Staff provided an example <br />of a code program in Texas that has worked well. The current 2009 code was <br />enforced for Markel Crew through their project and was highly successful. <br />Council members commended the board's patience and allowing the process to <br />work out with the transition to the new codes adopted. <br />Staff indicated that employees received training for the 2009 Energy <br />Conservation Code Enforcement and do not see anything that is excessive or <br />overly burdensome on homeowners. <br />Staff and the BCBOA will continue to monitor the Fire Sprinkler code and develop <br />a plan for ConocoPhillips. <br />City Manager Items and Future Agenda Items <br />M. Fleming and Council had a brief discussion of the advanced agenda to <br />include comments on medical marijuana. The City received news that the 96 <br />property is under contract for a Tennis Center. Also, Memory Square Pool <br />renovations are complete and included reclaimed brick. <br />Chuck Sisk requested that the Street Resurfacing program be added to the June <br />8, Study Session for discussion. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m. — Next Meeting July 13, 2010 <br />
