Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 1, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />Jean Morgan spoke regarding the workshop. She thought it was a great idea <br />and gave some recommendations on what could be discussed during the <br />workshop. <br />Poppitz stated that he would like to promote the workshop at the upcoming <br />senior program. <br />Muckle stated she would like to include the information that she created in GIS. <br />Williams said he would like to work on the maps as well. <br />Koertje volunteered to work on the program for the workshop. <br />The commission discussed potential dates on when to have the workshop. It <br />was mentioned the workshop could be held on a weekend at the Library. <br />The commission asked staff to continue to work on a date for when the workshop <br />would be held. <br />Update/Discussion/Action – February 23, 2010 Joint Meeting with City <br />Council <br />Stewart recommended the commission present their goals at the study session. <br />Muckle agreed and recommended the packet include the maps that show the <br />resources and demolitions. <br />Koertje recommended a list of items that should be included in the packet, <br />including John Leary’s letter on landmarking. <br />Popptiz stated that he would like to learn more about our design guidelines <br />update and was interested in working on that project. <br />Beginning of Year Action Items <br />Election of Officers – Koertje as chair, Williams as vice chair, Muckle as <br />secretary. <br />Posting locations – there were discussions of alternative locations, however <br />these locations are adopted by the city charter and cannot be altered. Existing <br />locations were approved by voice vote. <br />Committee Reports <br /> <br /> <br />Architectural Survey <br />Discussion ensued regarding how to proceed on getting the architectural survey <br />updated. <br />Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator, offered some suggestions on how to <br />proceed. She reminded the commission an outside consultant should use her for <br />the social history aspect. <br />Koertje asked to bring in a survey specialist to speak with the commission. He <br />directed staff to contact Colorado Preservation Inc. to see who they would <br />recommend for a group discussion. <br />Community Outreach <br />Poppitz stated he would be interested in working on this element. <br /> <br />
