EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEMS
NEW EMERGENCY SIRENS FOR LOUISVILLE
T his year Louisville installed three new emergency
notification sirens; on the north side of Annette
Brand Park, at Highway 42 and Pine Street, and on Dil-
lon Road at the Coal Creek Golf Course. These sirens
are linked to the sirens in Lafayette, Superior, Erie, and
unincorporated Boulder County through the Boulder
County Sheriff's Department dispatch center. They are
activated by the Communications Center when an emer-
gency warrants immediate mass notification. The most
likely events for the sirens are tornadoes or hazardous
materials accidents. The sirens are tested the first Mon-
day of each month, from April through August, at 10:00
AM and 7:00 PM. The tests consist of a short siren
activation followed by a short voice message announcing
it is a test.
Bo ULDER CO UNTYALERT SYSTEM
Residents within Boulder County who wish to
receive alerts on their cell phones, by text messaging,
and additional phones may sign up to be notified about
imminent threats to health and safety. You may request
alerts at multiple addresses, for example, residences and
businesses, by completing information for each loca-
tion. If your information changes, you are responsible
for updating your profile on the web site. Community
members who choose not to add additional lines or cell
phone information will continue to receive notifications
on their home landlines.
The notification system is a product of Everbridge
and is funded through the 9 -1 -1 surcharge that phone
service customers already pay as a part of their bills.
The service is expected to cost about $216,000 per year.
There is no additional charge for Boulder County resi-
dents.
To register, please visit www.bouldercounty.org/sheriff
and click on the "Mass Notification System" icon. This
service is for residents of unincorporated Boulder Coun-
ty as well as any municipality in the county other than
the City of Boulder or the City of Longmont.
Cityoj
Um Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1882
SOUTH BOULDER ROAD /HIGHWAY 42
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
T he Highway 42 and South
Boulder Road Intersection
Project began construction in June
and will continue through the end
of September.
