RESOLUTION 43, <br />SERIES 2010 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE SUPPORTING THE DENVER <br />REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS’ COMPREHENSIVE JOINT <br />APPLICATION TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN <br />DEVELOPMENT’S SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES REGIONAL PLANNING GRANT <br />PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), Colorado <br />Tomorrow Alliance (CTA), Metro Mayors Caucus (MMC) and Metro Area County <br />Commissioners (MACC) have taken the lead in bringing together a wide variety of <br />partners to develop a joint application for the US Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development ‘s Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program (SCRPG); <br />and <br />WHEREAS, <br />the program is governed by a set of six “Livability Principles”:(1) <br />Provide more transportation choices, (2) Promote equitable, affordable housing, (3) <br />Enhance economic competitiveness, (4) Support existing communities, (5) Coordinate <br />and leverage federal policies and investment, (6) Valuecommunities and <br />neighborhoods; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />the program willsupport multijurisdictional planning efforts that <br />integrate housing, land use, economic and workforce development, transportation,and <br />infrastructure investments; and <br />WHEREAS, <br />the grant funding aligns with regional prioritiesand thisgrant <br />program provides a valuable opportunity for our region to leverage our investment in <br />FasTracks and to build on the success of Metro Vision, the metro area’s shared vision <br />for the future that establishes a framework for coordinated land use, transportation and <br />environmental planning across the region; and <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the SCRPG is part of a larger shift away from formula-based funds <br />to a nationally-competitive funding process. This competitive focus requires greater <br />regional coordination and prioritization of potential projects going forward; and <br />WHEREAS <br />,support and input from all of DRCOG’s diverse membership will help <br />ensure that grant-funded activities focus on the region’s highest priorities and create <br />widespread benefits for local communities throughout the region. <br />WHERAS, <br /> strong partnerships are crucial not only to the development of a <br />successful grant application, but also to successful completion of the work plan laid out <br />in the application, and ultimately to the achievement of Metro Vision goals. <br />λ±´«¬·±² Ò±ò ìíô Í»®·» îðïð <br />п¹» ï ±º î <br /> <br />46 <br /> <br />
