Downtown Signs — Existing Code and Proposed Modifications Sign Type Size Placement Considerations Existing Regulation Proposed Regulation Existing Regulation Proposed Regulation Flush Mounted (Wall Signs) • Area - 7% of the overall facade • Height of Sign — 2' • Area - 2 SF of wall sign copy area for every 1' of linear frontage, plus 1 SF of wall sign copy area for every 1' of linear frontage for secondary frontage on corner lots, or lots facing public parks and plazas. • High of signs — no constraint • Position to fit within architectural features • Should help reinforce horizontal lines along the street • Do not extend beyond the outer edges of the building front • If decorative moldings define a "sign panel" place the sign in this location • Retain existing location standards • Projection — 12" • Height — roof line, up to 20' (must be below 2nd story window sill) • Wall sign copy area includes the combination of primary and secondary wall signs, hanging signs and free standing signs (parallel to the street), marquee signs, and awning signs. • Wall sign can be placed on secondary frontage only when an entrance is provided.
