Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
August 9, 2006
David requested staff to let us know what has happened with our request for an
alternate to replace Cary Tengler. Staff has indicated that this has not occurred
because the City manager and the mayor have been reluctant to fill the spot
outside of the normal cycle. Board members will pursue this individually.
North End Properties -
Jeff provided a background presentation about the final plat and asked for the
Board’s reaction. Art indicated that the buffer by Lafayette is about 60 feet (40
feet buffer and 20 feet for the pipeline). Jeff indicated that there should be
another trail on the west side of the property that is expanded. Board members
expressed support for many of the changes that took place. Art wondered if all of
the lands should be open space or not. Tom indicated that the public land
dedication is not automatically open space and that we could decide that at a
later date. David indicated that we may not want to accept additional long narrow
strips of lands as open space.
David Waldman made a motion that the trail corridor that will be broken up by
two roads be dedicated (and managed) as something other than open space. In
addition, the motion indicated support for saving the Cottonwood trees. Second
by Tom Davinroy. Passed unanimously.
Open Space Prioritization process -
The Board discussed the prioritization process and suggested that we revisit this
process at least once every two years at the end of each calendar year and that
it be the only (December meeting). The Board requested that the Staff clarify the
last paragraph of the Staff memorandum that some qualitative assessments is
included in the prioritization and that not each factor reflected on the worksheet is
of equal weight.
Next meeting items –
Future meetings will be at the library. Field trip to
Storagetek/Sun property and possibly Walnut Park. Cottonwood update.
Discussion of Storagetek/Sun property land use possibilities. CIP update.
Adjourn
– The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
