Cultural Council Meeting Minutes DATE Page 2 of 3 At the meeting with the Mayor we need to show we can cover our infrastructure. Wendy and Kathy P. invite contacts to apply. Looking for someone who wants to do book keeping. Kathy M. City Staff Update: Work session with City Council. We have a 1/2 hour. Sept 26. We can discuss events we've done so far. A purpose statement is needed. Don suggests a clarification from elected officials on their position regarding LCC's interest in pursuing a non city funded arts center in Louisville. Kinkos - They don't have proper discounts for LCC or the city. Kathy will continue to work on it. Centennial printing also available. October 1st requests due for scheduling. Bring to next meeting. Kathy Policita's husband's band will play for free as a donation. Events schedule - Fall - Silent movie looking at dates in Oct or Nov Kids concert - preschool young elementary Mr. Shine suggested. If we want to use artists from outside Louisville it is okay. Public Relations - logo done. It will be emailed to board members. Jeremy will help us on a volunteer basis if we put his info on literature etc Fall postcard sent out. There are currently 375 people on the email list Proposed New Louisville Arts Center - Don believes it is tied up in a political agenda. There is an Urban Renewal Work session Oct 3 after our meeting. We need to be aware of that when we go to meeting. Urban renewal has expanded. What will our approach be? Maryan- we should say - We want you to include the arts center in your thinking. Don believes we should say what Maryan said. We need a friend in Sisk not an adversary. We should not make any accusations. Sponsorship - Aug 29 Tuesday meeting 7:00 at library. Talk of an event next year such as a fundraiser for arts in Louisville. Think of businesses - tie with the arts. Get name and address talk to them ahead of time. David- small businesses. Rec center Sept 11 deadline for catalogue Jan-April
