Current Photo
ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY:
The house was built in 1910 as a carriage house and is of Greek Revival (gable front
with wing) architecture. Because photos were not obtained of the structure prior to its
relocation in 1939, it is hard to determine whether the structure was originally designed
as Greek Revival.
The structure was moved to its current location in the 1939. The 1948 Assessor's photo
shows the porch was unenclosed in 1948, however in looking at the existing structure
today, the porch has been enclosed. Therefore sometime between 1948 and now the
porch was enclosed (the applicant states it was enclosed in the 1950's). Skylights were
added sometime in 1989, and the current owners constructed an addition to the rear of
the structure in 1995 for a bathroom and mudroom.
According to the applicant's submittal, the following has been restored or altered:
Concrete block studio and garage were built in 1946.
Skylights were added in 1989.
50 SF Bathroom and mudroom were added to rear of structure in 1995.
As previously stated the two accessory structures (studio and garage) were built in
1946.
It is hard to tell from the 1948 Assessor's photo whether the bay window on the south
side of the structure is original. However, as previously stated, this structure was
originally used as a carriage house for 301 Spruce Street. Staff believes the bay
window was added at a later date.
