<br /> RESOLUTION NO. 32 <br /> SERIES 1987 <br /> WHEREAS, the Metro Denver peak air pollution season is between <br /> November 15 and January 15 ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Metro Denver area currently does not meet clean air <br /> health standards for carbon monoxide pollution; and <br /> WHEREAS, motor vehicles contribute more than 75% of the carbon <br /> monoxide since high altitude and cold winter temperatures cause <br /> cars to operate less efficiently; and <br /> WHEREAS, carbon monoxide adversely affects everyone's health, <br /> particularly pregnant women, children, the elderly, and premature <br /> infants; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of <br /> Louisville that: <br /> l. Louisville residents be encouraged to leave their cars <br /> at home on preassigned weekdays beginning November ~ , <br /> 1987 and ending January 29, 1988; <br /> 2 . All drivers cancel or postpone non-essential trips on <br /> high air pollution days; <br /> 3.
