Library Board of Trustees <br />Minutes <br />DATE <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />Little Free Libraries - Memory Square Park Little Library has been constantly <br />vandalized. The Board discussed moving the Little Llbrary. This has been on the <br />agenda for a few years. The Board voted to request the library get moved by the <br />Parks Department and ask if it could be re -installed at a new park that's being <br />rebuilt after the fire. <br />Volunteer Opportunities - Volunteers are needed for the December first Friday <br />to hand out cookies and help with set-up. Erin will send out a sign-up. <br />Library/Foundation MOU - No new updates. The Foundation wrote MOU <br />language that is being examined by the city attorney. <br />Staff Safety- Since the last meeting, Sharon and library leadership have <br />focused on empowering staff. They have talked to the Police Department about <br />the use of 911 if staff feel uncomfortable. Sharon shared that staff have quarterly <br />safety training around building exits, safe rooms, roof access, operating special <br />locks, etc. Board members inquired about deescalation training, staff support <br />services and active shooter drills. Sharon explained that there is a deescalation <br />training run by the city, all staff have access to EAP and there are regular police <br />safety drills. <br />Policies - <br />Mission Statement - A welcoming place to connect, discover and grow - was <br />officially approved. <br />Collection Policy - Sharon explained that a few updates were made to Collection <br />Policy around Reconsideration of Library Materials. The updates included that <br />only Louisville or Superior residents could request to reconsider materials. <br />Foundation Report - Jaime reported that the Foundation is actively discussing <br />their funds and how much they will donate to the library each year. <br />Director's Report - None today <br />Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda - none <br />Board Comments - Sue explained that she decided to resign after today's <br />meeting. Cheryl inquired about new acquisitions. Jaime shared that we will be <br />looking for new officers in the new year, as she will likely step down from the role <br />as president. <br />Discussion Items for Next Meeting - City Council is requesting a Work Plan <br />from each Board. The Library Board presentation is scheduled for February 27, <br />
