Sustainability Advisory Board
Minutes
December 7, 2023
recycling ordinance, waste diversion grant, GHG inventory, compost
contamination education, IRA simplification of incentives and supporting Rcup at
events ($1,000 funded five events). Then, they shared challenges: finding
volunteers for events and developing a new committee. A member asked if they
have subcommittee meetings and they answered yes. A Superior member said
they have sub -committee meetings where the agendas are posted and meetings
are run as regular meetings. A member asked what they are working on with
HOA's and water use. They responded that the HOA's want to learn more about
water conservation because the water rates are going up and Northern Water is
a great funding source and partner.
Then, Jim from Superior shared accomplishments: Beneficial Electrification Plan,
Green Star schools, Lawn Replacement, water conservation as a policy priority,
new community classes and events, new sustainability offerings at events
(waste -focused), advocated for increase in sustainability budget and staffing,
sustainability support for Marshall Fire rebuilds. Then, he shared challenges:
Marshall Fire recovery (capital funding is affected), volunteering and staffing at
events, consistent sub -committee meetings.
Public Comment
There was no public comment on this item.
Board Discussion
The Sustainability Managers spoke with the three boards about potential
alignment in 2024. First, the group talked about volunteer recruitment and the
following ideas were discussed: shared email list to use for events, sharing event
info out with other cities, mailing list for volunteers, partner with schools, CU
Boulder, tours/workshops as a group, joint calendar for all 3 cities, yard signs
"ask me about..."
