( <br /> BROOMFIELD RESOLUTION NO. 2-87 <br /> LOUISVILLE RESOLUTION NO. 54 <br /> Series 1986 <br /> A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE BROOMFIELD CITY COUNCIL AND <br /> THE LOUISVILLE CITY COUNCIk SUPPORTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> OF THE U.S. 36 INTERCHANGE STUDY FOR AN ADDITIONAL <br /> INTERCHANGE ON U.S. HIGHWAY 36 AT 96TH STREET <br /> WHEREAS, the U.S. 36 Interchange Study (the "Study: ) has <br /> been completed; and <br /> WHEREAS, Phase 1 of the Study concluded that the existing <br /> Broomfield and Superior interchanges cannot handle the projected <br /> traffic demand for the year 2000 and clearly demonstrated the need <br /> for an additional interchange on U . S . 36 between the existing <br /> Broomfield and Superior interchanges; and <br /> WHEREAS, Phase 2 of the Study recommended that a new <br /> interchange be located on U.S. 36 at 96th Street extended together <br /> with an overpass at Coalton/Midway Boulevard along with additional <br /> improvements to the regional highway system, said interchange, <br /> overpass and certain of the improvements being schematically shown on <br /> Exhibit A hereto and hereinafter collectively referred to as the <br /> "96th Street Interchange;" and <br /> WHEREAS, the Study Group was formed to work with the <br /> consulting team of PRC Engineering and TransPlan Associates in the <br /> preparation of the Study; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Study Group was comprised of representatives <br /> from Boulder County, the City of Broomfield, and the City of <br /> Louisville and also had advisory members from the following agencies <br /> and organizations: City of Lafayette; Colorado Department of <br /> Highways - Districts 4 and 6 . Colorado Technological Center; <br /> , <br /> Interlocken Tech Park; Jefferson County; Storage Technology <br /> Corporation and the Denver Regional Council of Governments; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Study Group concurred with the Study's <br /> conclusions tha t the 96th Street Interchange and other improvements <br /> will be necessary; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Study has been submitted to the Broomfield <br /> City Council and to the Louisville City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS " the Cities of Broomfield and Louisville are the <br /> agencies most affected by the proposed new 96th Street Interchange; <br />
