Sustainability Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />January 17, 2024 <br />Page 5 of 8 <br />Discussion Item: 2024 LSAB Work Plan — <br />Kayla reviewed the Board's 2024 work plan ideas developed during its November <br />meeting_ regular updates on and monitoring of implementation of the Internal <br />Decarbonization Plan and support for implementation of the Community <br />Decarbonization Plan_ She then gave an overview of the Sustainability Division's <br />draft of the Board's 2024 work plan. See the meeting packet. <br />Public Comment <br />There was no public comment on this item_ <br />Board Discussion <br />Tiffany expressed her support for the draft work plan. Allison inquired about <br />traditional community outreach efforts on the part of the Sustainability Division <br />and the Board. Hannah explained that the Sustainability Division is responsible <br />for all sustainability communications for the City, and she mentioned a few <br />examples. Todd noted that the Board has moved towards relying on City staff for <br />communication efforts. Tiff volunteered that there is a need for systemic change <br />in how the City performs communication and outreach and that the Board can <br />help to drive changes. <br />Josh stated that he would like the Board to identify specific, concrete <br />decarbonization activities and efforts that the Board could address over the next <br />year. Todd asked for clarification. Josh gave a couple of examples. John built on <br />Josh's comments: he would like to quantify how much greenhouse gas emissions <br />the Board's efforts prevent. Moreover, he would like the Board to engage in <br />meaningful work with concrete goals, not merely education and outreach. Todd <br />questioned how the Board could determine how much greenhouse gas <br />emissions the Board itself prevented. There are many efforts to reduce <br />greenhouse gas emissions; disentangling the Board's work from other efforts <br />would be difficult. Kayla volunteered that the Board's February and March <br />meetings will inform this discussion and that the Board should remember that it <br />
