Design <br />~ Architectural base integrated on at least 2 sides of the sign <br />~ Opaque sign faces with cut out letters or logos <br />~ 24 inch maximum character height <br /> <br />Commission Questions of Staff: <br />Dalton ask if the traffic information was included in the staff recommendations <br />Wood stated that consideration was given, especially regarding the 4 lanes of traffic. <br /> <br />Deborski asked how the 10ft. height limitation became the recommendation. <br />Wood explained the need to keep the sign in a proportion/ratio that would pleasing and there are <br />also space constraints at many of the commercial site locations. <br /> <br />Pritchard inquired if the 10' height also included the base. <br />Wood responded that it would. A height measurement would be calculated like the residential <br />heights. <br /> <br />Pritchard asked how the height and location of the signs would affect the vision clearance. <br />Wood reviewed the definition of vision clearance and explained that all signs would be required <br />to be out of the vision clearance area. <br /> <br />Dalton noted that the 10' height is a change from the current LMC which is 14'. <br /> <br />Loo requested clarification of any changes to the use of company logos and colors. <br />Wood explained that a registered trade mark is the only permitted graphic for a sign. <br /> <br />Wood distributed an email from Scott Pedersen and requested that it be entered into public <br />record. Loo moved and Dalton seconded a motion to enter into public record. Motion passed by <br />voice vote. <br /> <br />Members of the Public: <br />Jennifer Buck and Patrick Ernst, representing Walgreens on McCaslin, distributed information <br />detailing 'reader' board and requested that they become a permitted sign. <br /> <br />Pritchard asked numerous questions regarding the reader board - how it would enhance the <br />business and if reader boards were no allowed would the suggestions from Mr. Pedersen meet <br />their needs. <br />
