There is currently no money budgeted in the NW Pkwy proposal for this connection
th

There is currently no money in the City’s budget for a signal at 96 Street (estimated to be
$75,000 - $100,000), should it be warranted once the connection is complete

Carter Burgess will continue with a neighborhood circulation study for the next 2-3 months

There was discussion on the condition of the bridge and the road surface. The question of how large
the bridge should be (2 lanes versus 4 lanes) was also discussed. It was estimated that it could take
until mid-year to obtain more solid cost figures, presupposing that the City will have money in the
th
budget for this project. A suggestion was made that 96 Street should remain connected to Pine
Street for easier access to STK and Avista for emergency vehicles.

Public Comments
Tom Rafferty, a resident of Rex Street, would like the City to also consider a Bella Vista connection
in conjunction with this project to relieve cut-through traffic on Rex Street.

Ronda Grassi & Nancy Love, Downtown Business Association, requested better notification of City
Council meetings on topics that affect the DBA.

Bill Simmons, City Manager, provided the following recap of recent meetings:

The Community Investment Fee Liaison Committee met this morning. A final draft report
will be available in approximately two-three weeks.

The City Facilities Committee met this afternoon with the design team for the Via Appia site.
Cost estimates, including proposed recreational facilities on the site, range from $5.6 million
to $6.1 million.

A meeting was held in mid-December regarding the Hwy 42 revitalization plan. A proposal
from Civitas and Szymanski & Ray was reviewed. The proposed plan does not affect the
neighborhoods and is not rail dependent. Staff was directed to request scopes of work from
both companies.

Heather Balser reported that RTD would be voting next Tuesday to fund their portion of the EIS for
commuter rail, @ $7.5 million.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.

2
