Lisa Kihn
556 W Beech P1
Louisville, CO 80027
303 - 666 -6285
March 26, 2004
Dear Mayor Sisk,
RECENED
MAR 2 6 2004
CITY OF LOUIS
CITY MANAGER
I am interested in applying for the vacant seat on the Arts and Humanities
Council. I am an elementary school teacher with a strong background in
humanities. I am currently taking a few years off to raise my children. I
have lived in Louisville for almost ten years and have taken advantage of
many of the adult and children programs that the LAHC has offered. I feel
this is an opportunity for me to give back to my community.
This past year I have served on the PTA board at Coal Creek elementary
school and have spent many hours organizing student programs through the
school. My main focus the past several years has been in the area of anti -
violence/bully- proofing and kindness education and I have sponsored and
taught various programs in these areas. I feel that a strong community that
offers opportunities for people of all ages to explore the world through arts
and humanities plays an integral part in raising healthy families.
My educational background includes a liberal arts degree from the
University of Colorado with a minor in humanities. While attending CU, I
spent a semester abroad studying theater and art in London, England. I have
continued my education through taking annual classes at the Denver Art
Museum and humanities salons through the University of Denver. I also
have a master's degree in Instruction and Curriculum Development.
I have been impressed with the quality of programs that are offered through
LAHC and feel that I have the energy, desire and expertise to add new ideas
to a field that I feel very passionate about.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
JAM, 7
Lisa Kihn
