PAGE TWO <br />SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION 2010 – 2011 WORK PLAN <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 14, 2010 <br />Hwy. 42 – Corridor <br />Description: The goal of this effort is to advance the planning and engineering completed to <br />date and outline a strategic implementation plan to realize the city’s vision for the corridor. This <br />integrated (Planning, Public Works, and Economic Development) effort is intended to update <br />the corridor’s access plan, develop a context sensitive preliminary design and environmental <br />clearance for Hwy. 42, and advance the engineering and design of both a pedestrian <br />underpass / downtown gateway and potential signal and pedestrian crossing of Highway 42. <br />Status: <br /> Staff is coordinating a traffic signal for the Arnold property (southwest corner of South Boulder <br />Road and HWY 42) with CDOT. <br /> Staff is applying for a DRCOG - Next Steps Gant: <br /> Downtown Gateway / Pedestrian Underpass and Hwy. 42 Crossing feasibility <br />o <br />assessment. <br /> Staff is working with Boulder County and CDOT to conduct a Corridor Design: <br /> Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) / Preliminary Design, and <br />o <br /> Environmental Analysis. <br />o <br /> Staff is updating the CDOT Access Plan. <br /> Staff will support East Pine Street redevelopment - Opportunity Driven. <br /> Staff will reevaluate Mixed Use Zoning District - Opportunity Driven. <br /> Staff will support Transit Station Coordination / Construction - Opportunity Driven. <br />Schedule: <br /> Arnold signal resolution - fall 2010. <br /> DRCOG - Next Steps - TBD: 2011 – 2014. <br /> Hwy. 42 Preliminary Engineering / Environmental - TBD: 2011 – 2014. <br /> CDOT Access Plan - spring 2011. <br /> Mixed Use Zoning - As needed. <br /> Transit Station Design - As needed. <br />Downtown Sign Code <br />Description: The goal of this effort is to review and provide recommendations for modifications <br />to the sign code portion of the Downtown Design Handbook for the downtown core area in <br />order to be more supportive of business identification needs while preserving the historic <br />character of downtown Louisville. <br />Status: <br /> Planning Commission adoption - September, 2010. <br /> Final draft revised for Council adoption. <br />Schedule: <br /> 1st reading September 21, 2010. <br /> 2nd reading October 5, 2010. <br />Historic Preservation <br />Description:Review and provide recommendations to City Council of the Old Town Historic <br />Overlay District Design Guidelines and Framework Plan. <br /> Discussion of Historic Preservation in Old Town Overlay District and Downtown Commercial <br />3 <br /> <br />
