PAGE FIVE <br />SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION 2010 – 2011 WORK PLAN <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 14, 2010 <br />Livable Streets Policy and Action Plan <br />Description:The goal of this effort is to create city-wide policies and action plan that <br />integrate city building practices to further enable walking, bicycling, and transit as viable <br />partners to the automobile in providing local and regional mobility. The plan will focus on the <br />unique pedestrian, bicycle, and traffic calming needs of each neighborhood in the City to <br />create comprehensive city-wide policies and action plans that encourage and enable safe <br />operation for all modes of travel for citizens of all ages and abilities within Louisville. <br />Status: <br /> The Downtown Parking and Pedestrian Action Plan is underway. <br /> Staff is coordinating efforts with the Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan. <br />Schedule: <br /> Individual Neighborhood Plans – spring, 2011. <br /> City-wide Policy Framework – summer, 2011. <br />Urban Agriculture Assessment <br />Description:The goal of this assignment is to research the best practices of urban <br />agriculture and local food production from both the private development and public policy <br />perspective. Staff will then assess the Louisville Municipal Code’s strengths and <br />weaknesses and facilitate a community discussion. <br />Status: <br /> No progress to date. <br />Schedule: <br /> Best practices research, LMC assessment and community dialog - summer, 2011 <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The existing 2010 Budget and anticipated 2011 Budget provide adequate resources to <br />complete this work plan <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the City Council discuss with the Planning Commission the 2009-2010 Work Plan. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />None. <br />6 <br /> <br />
