Added the loss of the original windows <br />detracts from the integrity but is not overwhelming. He added the social history was <br />fairly strong. <br />Stewart agreed with the above and added the porch should not be enclosed. <br />Tofte agreed with the other commission member comments. <br />Koertje asked for a motion. <br />Muckle made a motion to approve the application as written. <br />Lewis asked for Muckle to clarify the motion regarding additions. <br />Koertje added a friendly amendment to “exclude any additions greater than 50 years <br />old”. Stewart seconded the revised motion. The motion carried 5 – 0. <br />Public Hearing – Landmark Application – 1131 Jefferson Avenue <br />Koertje opened public hearing. <br />McCartney presented the staff report and PowerPoint presentation. He stated 1131 <br />Jefferson Avenue had already been approved as a landmark by the HPC in July. The <br />request was continued at the August 3, 2010 City Council meeting to modify the <br />application to allow for the carport. <br />Janice Hoffman, the applicant, spoke regarding her request and how she believed the <br />carport was an integral part of the structure. She added the age of the carport is not <br />known, but the concrete below the carport has a date inscribed reading “1961”. <br />Lewis asked Hoffman if she knew if concrete was integral to the carport. <br />Hoffman answered she has photos to show the concrete, but she does not have the <br />photos tonight. <br />Stewart asked Hoffman how much work she anticipated needing to be done on the <br />carport. <br />Hoffman answered the trim and gutters need help. She stated she did not anticipate <br />any future additions. <br />Tofte asked Hoffman why she wanted to add the carport to the application. <br />Hoffman stated it was due to a request by the Conarroes, they felt it was a part of the <br />house and it should be retained. <br />Public Comments - none <br />Commission Questions and Comments <br />Stewart commented the entire structure, including the carport, should be landmarked. <br /> <br />
