He
stated the following:
They have owned the house for one year
They also own 833 Parkview and have worked hard at preserving the structure (it
too is more than 50 years old).
They intend on building a new house which would be designed to match the
character of the neighborhood.
Tofte asked if the foundation was in good condition.
Rodenbush stated he wasn’t sure.
Stewart asked if he had immediate or long range plans to rebuild.
Rodenbush stated his plans to rebuild were not immediate, they were more long range.
Stewart asked, in the applicant’s opinion, if the house was structurally sound.
Rodenbush answered in the affirmative.
Koertje asked if the applicant had received any cost estimates to repair the structure.
Rodenbush answered no.
Tofte asked if someone was currently living in the structure.
Rodenbush answered in the affirmative.
Muckle asked if the applicant had any idea of what it would take to restore the house.
Rodenbush estimated it would take about $50,000 to restore the structure.
Public Comments
Lori Chase, the current tenant, spoke regarding the condition of the house. She stated
the following:
It has “old house” issues: single pane windows (drafty), roots removed from the
sewer pipes, crawl space is dirt with wood holding up the house.
Tofte asked if the electrical system had been recently updated.
Chase stated no.
Tofte asked what type of heat the structure had.
