L
Cityof
Louisville
Re RECREA °I O N
October 11, 2010
Colorado State Trails Grant Conunittee Members
c/o Melanie Gose
13787 S. Highway 85
Littleton, Colorado 80125
Dear Grant Selection Committee,
On behalf of the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board (OSAB) 1 am writing in
support of the proposed Coal Creek/Rock Creek- Central Connection trail project. Our board
annually proposes and prioritizes trail projects throughout the City and this trail alignment has
consistently been selected as OSAB's top priority. This trail would serve to connect two
regional trails, provide wildlife habitat, connect communities and enhance our working
partnerships with Boulder County and the City of Lafayette.
The Coal Creek trail runs through the City of Louisville and is one of our most prized and
highly used trails. The Coal Creek trail offers an array of experiences to our citizens including
wildlife viewing, commuter routes to school and work long distance running and biking and a
place for families to connect with nature and spend time enjoying a leisurely stroll. Our board
would like to share this amazing trail with other communities, this goal could be accomplished
with your support and funding of the propose trail connection.
Connecting to the Rock Creek trail would also benefit and enhance the lives of Louisville,
Lafayette and Superior citizens. The proposed trail connection would provide access to other
communities and other Open Space properties such as the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve
(including Stearns Lake), Mayhoffer and the Boulder County Land Venture. This trail would
also provide longer loop trail experiences and exposure to more rural agricultural settings.
As chair of the Open Space Advisory Board 1 highly encourage you to support this project.
This is an amazing opportunity to connect communities and enhance the lives of citizens in
Boulder County.
Sincerely,
Tom Davinroy, Chair of the Open Space Advisory Board
749 MAIN STREET LOUISVILLE, CO 80027 PH: (303) 33.547.35 FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.ci.Iouisville.co.us
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR.
