Open Space Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />October13th, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />4. Educational ideas presented by Ember, including a bandana with rules & <br />regulations and a GeoCache pamphlet. <br />5. Coal Creek to Rock Creek trail connection is being discussed. <br />Joe Stevens <br />1. Budget review with City Council is underway. Funding for improvements <br />to the parking and pedestrian crossing at Harper Lake is being <br />considered. Also funding for the Aquarius parking lot is being addressed. <br />2. The Master Planning process is underway and trail connectivity appears to <br />be a “hot topic” from the public point of view. <br />3. Recently a hot air balloon landed at Harper Lake and a code enforcement <br />officer issued a ticket to the balloon operator. <br />4. Funding for mowing is being discussed in the City. There was a Board <br />discussion about how mowing is being managed on Open Space. It was <br />agreed that Tom would write a letter in support of the current “no-mow” <br />policy. <br />Board Updates <br />1. David reminded the Board and Staff that the Davidson Mesa crossing <br />project was discussed by the Board some years ago and approved for <br />action at that time. <br />2. Justin commented on the Davidson Mesa / Harper Lake crossing <br />3. Justin said that the fields near the police station seem to be very well <br />rehabilitated and he complimented Staff on their land management. Now <br />that prairie dogs have been removed the vegetation is recovering and <br />more wildlife is using the area. <br />Discussion Item: Schedule Joint Meeting with Lafayette LOSAC <br />It was decided that a joint meeting at 6pm on the first Thursday of <br />rdrd <br />February (February 3) or March (March 3) would be preferable. The meeting <br />will be hosted by Lafayette. <br />Review and Finalize Candidate Open Space Property Rankings and Map <br /> Helen moved and Justin seconded to approve the Candidate Open Space <br />Property Rankings and Map as presented, with a minor change to reformat the <br />spreadsheet for easier reading. The motion was unanimous. <br />Discussion Item: Develop the Annual Open Space Acquisition and Trails <br />Request for Boulder County <br /> Justin moved and Helen seconded to approve the Open Space Acquisition <br />and Trails Request as discussed in the session. The motion was unanimous. <br />See minutes for the property and trail description. <br />Discussion Item: Develop Zoning Criteria and Review Remaining Parcels <br /> <br />
