Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, October 7, 2010 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 <br />PM <br />Call to Order—Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at7:10 pm. <br />I. <br />Roll Call—Board members present: Mike Frontczak, Vickie Marra, Meredith <br />II. <br />Preston-Eddy, Theresa Rounds, Matt Tepe, Ellen Toon. Board member absent: <br />Kimberly Heestand. Staff members present: Dean Johnson, Chris Lichty. City Council <br />member present: Dave Clabots. <br />Approval of Agenda—The agenda was approved by all members. <br />III. <br />Approval of Minutes—The minutes from the September 2, 2010 meeting were <br />IV. <br />approved. <br />Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—Theresa recently observed <br />V. <br />spraying taking place inpublic areas in Dutch Creek, at a time of year when no spraying <br />has been scheduled. Dean and Chris will investigate. <br />Arboretum Master Plan—Discussion about finishing area surrounding pergola. <br />VI. <br />Dean stated that power line will be installed this month, with lighting, outlets, and a new <br />irrigation clock to follow shortly. HFAB’s goal over the next few months is to review the <br />original master plan, explore revisions, and prioritize funding and completion of each <br />phase (eg brick memory walk and shrub garden.)If CIP funding is approved, Kathy <br />Kron will be involved in project design. <br />November meeting with Troy Russ, Planning Dept Director—Introductions and <br />VII. <br />overview of HFAB’s mission. Also initiate discussion of tree protection guidelines; <br />commercial landscape issues; right-of-way issues; and update of weed ordinance. <br />2011 HFAB-sponsored talks/presentations—Theresa will contact Carol O’Meara to <br />VIII. <br />schedule her talk for Tuesday, April 5; and also to explore a second talk, possibly in <br />May or June. Chris will contact Jim Ord to schedule his presentation on Thursday, April <br />21 if the library is available. Publicizing the talks starting about six weeks prior will be <br />important.
