, Lityr Department of Planning and Building Safety
Louisville 749 Main Street ' Louisville CO 80027 ' 303.335.4592 ' www.louisvilleco.gov
COLORADO ° 1 4L 1662
MEMORANDUM
To: Planning Commission Members
From: Planning Department
Subject: Traffic Safety and Enforcement at McCaslin and Washington
Date: October 14, 2010
At previous Planning Commission meetings the Commissioners have discussed
with the Planning Staff concerns regarding traffic safety and enforcement at
specific sites in Louisville. The site at McCaslin and Washington has been the
focus of several of these discussions. Staff has shared your concerns and
comments with Bruce Goodman, Chief of Police.
Chief Goodman will be attending the October 14 Planning Commission meeting
and will be available to discuss your continued concerns.
For your additional information, the City is conducting an internal alternatives
analysis for various options to redesign the pedestrian crossing at the McCaslin
and Washington intersection. These options include: minor intersection
reconfigurations, major reconfigurations, pedestrian activated signals, a possible
traffic signal, and a potential underpass. Each option is being vetted internally for
impacts, constructability and cost.
The city will present viable options to the public and various boards and
commissions, including the planning commission, for review and discussion.
