Learn why this is important
Good afternoon, Sharon,
I hope you are having a good week.
The purpose of this email is to provide citizen input and questions to consider after stopping by the site for the
proposed Pet Memorial at the Arboretum.
Looking at the design, will figures of animals sit atop of boulders/bases without any sort of backdrop?
o Will these figures be visible from the rebuilt homes to the South?
■ I would think that seeing such images out windows could be triggering or sad. At least, at
times.
o Several remedies are possible for this situation. For example:
• Move the memorial further north in the arboretum
Have a large wall (solid, colored plexiglass, granite/Colorado pink stone slab wall, or
bricks/tiles/etc.) behind the memorial so that images are not visible from the homes
behind
• Have a wall of plants/evergreens as a similar screen solution.
■ Perhaps a combination of the above items?
o Will having the presence of the memorial visible, whether screened or not, be acceptable to the
fire survivors who live nearby? Have they been engaged in this process?
• Have communications been specifically sent to the homes who will have daily visibility
of the memorial?
• On a personal and subjective note, I am finding the literal creative translation into sculpted animal
shapes to be less peaceful, light -filled, rainbow -bridge -like, or friendly than a more colorful, less
sculpted creative translation. Something to appeal to more aesthetics and personalities - again, in my
respectful, singular, subjective opinion.
Once installed, this memorial is likely to be permanent, so while I hesitated to weigh in, I was rather surprised
by the design and placement in proximity to homes. Thank you for considering my input for possible
adjustments.
Respectfully,
Cynthia
Cynthia Come
438 Jefferson Ave.
Louisville, CO 80027
