<br /> RESOLUTION NO. 29 <br /> Series 1985 <br /> WHE REAS , the Metro Denver peak air pollution season <br /> is between November 15 and January 15; and <br /> WHEREAS, Louisville residents are increasingly con- <br /> cerned about our air quality; and <br /> WHEREAS, carbon monoxide adversely affects everyone's <br /> health, particulary pregnant women and their children, <br /> elderly people, and premature infants; and <br /> WHEREAS, motor vehicles contribure more than 90% of <br /> the carbon monoxide; and <br /> WHEREAS, Metro Denver residents will be driving a <br /> total of 32 million miles, the equivalent of 1,285 times <br /> around the earth, every weekday by 1985; and <br /> NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council <br /> of the City of Louisville that: <br /> l. The Mayor and City Council encourage Louisville <br /> residents, on a purely voluntary basis to leave their cars <br /> at home on high pollution days, <br /> 2. The Mayor and City Council also ask drivers to <br /> leave their cars at home on eight preassigned weekdays <br /> beginning November 15; <br /> 3. The Mayor and City Council officially support the <br /> "Better Air" campaign; <br /> 4 . The Clerk of the City of Louisville shall attest <br /> and affix the seal of the City to this resolution, and that <br /> copies hereof be transmitted to the Colorado Department of <br /> Health Better Air Campaign and the Denver Regional Council <br /> of Governments. <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of November, 1985. <br /> ~~~ <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> ~~ <br />
