City Council
Meeting Minutes
April 9, 2024
YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD 2023-2024 ANNUAL REPORT
Members of the Youth Advisory Board reviewed their work over the past year
highlighting their Pet Mayor campaign and the upcoming environmental themed
scavenger hunt that will take place during Earth Week.
Public comments
Mary Van Zale, Hazel's mom, stated serving on the board has been a great experience
for their family.
Councilmembers thanked the members of the YAB for their service and for the great
projects they do each year.
Mayor Leh gave out certificates of appreciation to the board members whose terms are
ending this year.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION — WARD MEETING PROCESS
Deputy City Manager Fox stated ward meetings are an opportunity for Councilmembers
to engage with their constituencies and staff is requesting guidance on approaches for
the future as there has been a renewed interest in having meetings and staff would like
a consistent approach for them.
Staff is recommending city -sponsored ward meetings, each individual ward and a
mayor's town meeting, be held twice per year. Councilmembers could have additional
meetings but they would not be staff supported. City -sponsored meetings would include
advertising of the meetings in City publications, coordination of room reservations, and
staff support.
Members discussed and accepted the proposal for two staff -supported meetings per
year, not spending any additional funds on advertising but rather using already available
resources, and an understanding that additional meetings will be advertised by staff
only if the schedule allows.
ADJOURN
Members adjourned at 7.05 pm.
Christ p er M. Leh, Mayor
Meredyth Muth, City Clerk
