DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACCESSIBLE AND VISITABLE HOUSING UNITS <br />Accessible and visitable housing units both provide accommodations for individuals with <br />disabilities and are well aligned with senior housing needs but serve slightly different purposes. <br />» Accessible housing units are primarily designed for residents with disabilities or mobility <br />limitations to live in full time and can include features such as wider interior doors or <br />hallways (to accommodate a walker or wheelchair), or accessible bathrooms with <br />handles and reinforced walls. <br />Visitable units are generally accessible to visitors with mobility limitations or residents <br />with longer -term mobility changes but are not necessarily equipped for residents with <br />limited mobility.
