Lcoltyt)
Louisville
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
MEMORANDUM
To: Youth Advisory Board
From: Jeff Hirt, Planning Manager
Amelia Brackett Hogstad, Senior Planner
Date: 5/2/24
Re: Comprehensive Plan Update
We consider the Youth Advisory Board to be Louisville experts with opinions about the future of your
hometown we want to hear more about. Specifically, Louisville's city planners want to hear from the
YAB about one of the city's most important projects that shapes our future —the "Comprehensive
Plan". At the May 2 meeting, City staff will walk the group through what city planning is, what the
Comprehensive Plan is and why it is important and ask a few questions. What we hear from the YAB
will help the project team figure out what to do next.
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is
Louisville's playbook for the future
growth and development of the
city. Think of all things related to
the "built environment" like
buildings, roads, and parks. Think
of where people live, where they
go to school or work, where they
play, what these places look and
feel like and how you get to and
from them. The Comprehensive
Plan tackles all these subjects and
gets updated every ten years. Now
is the time for such an update.
2013 Louisville Comprehensive Plan Cover
Project information including the 2013 Comprehensive Plan can be found on the project webpage at:
https://www.engagelouisvilleco.org/comp-plan.
