City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 11, 2023 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />Tracy Berger, Louisville, urged the Council to continue in the coalition to help people <br />who work in the community to be able to live in the community. <br />Councilmember Most stated it is important to support this and the housing plan so we <br />have a community that is available for all income levels. She supports the coalition and <br />moving this forward. <br />Councilmember Dickinson stated he wants this to happen regionally so that it has a <br />bigger impact and is the same for all businesses in the region. He supports the City <br />continuing this discussion. He notes this won't solve the housing problems but it is a <br />step forward. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Fahey stated she agrees this is a program we need to be a part of. She <br />would like to get Superior and Broomfield involved. She would like to have outreach to <br />the businesses so their input is taken into account. <br />Councilmember Hoefner agreed it is important for Louisville to participate in this and he <br />looks forward to the economic studies to better understand the benefits and impacts. He <br />agreed the business community should be involved. <br />Councilmember Hamlington stated there is a sense of urgency but we have to do our <br />due diligence. She would like more information specific to Louisville to understand <br />impacts here. She supports continuing with the project. <br />Councilmember Leh stated he is in favor of continuing this effort. He too would like more <br />surrounding communities to be involved. <br />Mayor Maloney agreed with others that this is important. He stated a reasonable <br />adoption is probably 2025. He would like data that is clear and wants this is done <br />regionally. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1854, SERIES 2023 — AN ORDINANCE FOR EXTENDING THE <br />CITY'S THREE -EIGHTHS OF ONE PERCENT (0.375%) SALES TAX FOR PARKS <br />AND OPEN SPACE PURPOSES FOR AN ADDITIONAL 10 YEAR PERIOD, <br />IMPOSING AN ADDITIONAL ONE -EIGHTH OF ONE PERCENT (0.125%) SALES <br />TAX FOR OPEN SPACE PURPOSES AS PROVIDED HEREIN; AND PROVIDING <br />FOR THE SUBMISSION OF THE BALLOT QUESTION TO A VOTE OF THE <br />REGISTERED ELECTORS AT A REGULAR ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 7, <br />2023 — 1ST READING — SET PUBLIC HEARING 7/25/23 <br />Mayor Maloney introduced Ordinance No. 1854 by title. He asked staff to review the <br />comments the Council has received about this and make adjustments to the ballot title <br />that reflect those comments. <br />
