CHANGES OVER TIME <br />The property at 1440 Cannon Street contains a primary structure and a detached garage. <br />"Stories in Places", a residential historic context for Louisville from 2018, lists the style of the <br />structure as National, a folk style popular between the 1850s and 1930s enabled by the <br />expansion of railroads and access to cheaper lumber, combined with the simple, older forms of <br />previous decades. The National style has many different forms, and often displayed simple form <br />and ornamentation, as is evident in the form of the house in the Assessor's Card <br />The 1948 Assessor image (below) appears to show a similar form and footprint to what exists <br />today, with changes to siding and windows. <br />The building permit file does not show any major exterior changes. <br />Figure 1.
